Description
Completed in January 1967, the memorial to the civilian victims of the Japanese Occupation stands in War Memorial Park. It was designed by Singapore's most renown architects, Leong Swee Lim.
The monument consists of four identical pillars each standing 70m high. The 4 columns represent the shared experiences and unity of the four major races of Singapore - Chinese, Malay, Indian and other races.
