This is a section from the girders that were part of the World Trade Center that were given to the City of Christchurch to honour firefighters all over the world. The text of the memorial plaque is below:
"This sculpture within the Firefighters Reserve stands as a silent tribute to firefighters worldwide who risk their lives daily in the pursuit of their duty.
Firefighters are always in the front line and never more so than on September 11, 2001, when international terrorists hijacked four domestic American Jet airliners and flew two of them, along with their passengers, into the twin towers of New York's World Trade Center. The two towers imploded and collapsed, and among the more than 2,800 dead 343 New York firefighters. All that remained of the twin towers, and the lives lost within, was a mountainous pile of twisted steel and smoking rubble.

I love working in New Zealand as there is always something new to excite me. I learned the hard way with film B/W, colour negatives and slides and now love the freedom that digital cameras can give you. As I am often several months behind when I start working on my pictures I am often surprised and excited at what I find. Each individual has to be adapted depending on the subject; sometimes they are nearly untouched and others have hours of creative changes to get them looking perfect.
