Artist's Description

Strangely this Invercargill cable car is now a tram in Christchurch. The tram behind was built in 1904.

After the earthquakes the Christchurch trams were stored at Ferrymead Heritage Park and were given a good make over. The track was damaged and some of the route ran past badly damaged buildings that had to be demolished. The trams started running again after being off the streets of Christchurch for 996 days. It is nice that a lot of the tram drivers that worked before the quake will be back doing their old job again.

About Steve Taylor

Steve Taylor

I love working in New Zealand as there is always something new to excite me. I learned the hard way with film B/W, colour negatives and slides and now love the freedom that digital cameras can give you. As I am often several months behind when I start working on my pictures I am often surprised and excited at what I find. Each individual has to be adapted depending on the subject; sometimes they are nearly untouched and others have hours of creative changes to get them looking perfect.
