Description
Day Dreams
Ripping footsteps and laughter gay,
Loud the little ones laughing say
"Come, sister.Marjory, come and play.
Or we'll bury you altogether!"
The new-mown hay is sweet today,
But Marjory's thoughts have flown astray,
Over the hills and far away
To a little white house on the heather
Someone is dreaming of her, maybe,
In the golden summer weather;
Ah, could. Love unfettered and free
Lend his wings for a thought to flee!
Far from the sound of the moaning sea,
Far and away from the heathy lea
Where the flocks feed all together!
The little ones play in the new-mown hay,
But the rippling laughter, sweet and gay,
And musical voices singing,
Seem but an. echo from far away
Of his sheep-bells faintly ringing;
It is but a golden fantasy
Of the golden summer weather.
Yet all around her there seems to be
The sweet soft breath of the distant.Sea,
And the scent of the purple heather!
